Currently my work is concerned with natural forms, the human figure and landscape.
I aim to make a visceral response to the world as I see it & experience it. For my starting points I use my collection of natural forms for example bones, stones, flints, driftwood & other detritus. I also use anatomical, photographic, and art historical references.
I aim to make a strong image in a search for a visual truth.
The initial images are constantly reworked. The starting points then provide a structure within which to work. Textured surfaces are built up as one image is submerged by another.
Experiment and accident are an integral part of the process and I try to remain open to the unexpected as I work towards the final image.
